Retouching & Post production
Increasingly, a lot of professional photograpahy work is continued in the PhotoShop studio. In some cases this is where the serious work happens. I am as guilty as any commercial photographer constrained by time and chasing deadlines. The stock answer to something not working in the photographic studio or on location is "don't worry, we'll fix it in PhotoShop later!"
The following sequence is a typical example of the post production work that I carry out in Photoshop.
The models eyes are a little lack lustre and suffering from poor lighting.

Using a range of standard industry techniques, the true pigment in the models eyes has been revealed and enhanced.

Next, the whites of the eyes are lightened and the eyelashes and rims of the eyes are darkened heavily.
The final image shows the finished work including additional highlights added to the eyes and extensive work on the lips to generate the warm red colour, the glossy sheen and enhanced definition of the shape.
The inset image shows the original photograph prior to any PhotoShop work.
